With the baseball season almost two months underway, the first-half standings are taking shape, stars are emerging, some teams are thriving, and some are struggling. But no matter how bad their team is doing, these five MLB players keep producing.

Here are the top five players on last-place MLB teams

Some quick notes before the list. Number one, the AL East has been left off the list. Five teams in that division could be in the race till the end, therefore I don’t consider any of them last-place teams. Number two, plenty of players have been left off this list because there are only five spots. Feel free to list your top five in the comments.

#5 – Kris Bryant

Entering the second year of his seven-year, $182M contract with the Colorado Rockies, Kris Bryant is producing in the middle of the Rockies lineup with teammates Elias Díaz and C.J. Cron, who were both considered for this list. Unfortunately, this hasn’t resulted in too many wins as Colorado is in last place.

Contributing five home runs, 16 RBI, a .297 average, and a .796 OPS, Bryant finds himself leading his team in hits with 46. For a guy who battled foot injuries all last season, it is awesome to see Kris back on the field providing for his team.

The 31-year-old is no stranger to good seasons. From 2016-2019, he hit 112 home runs and drove in 304 runs with the Chicago Cubs. During that time he won an MVP, a Hank Aaron Award, Player of the Month (August, 2016), and made a pair of All-Star appearances.

Now it will be interesting to see if Colorado can build around him. He is not a free agent until 2029, giving the team more than enough time. The bad thing is that Coors Field is not good for pitchers, making it harder to sign good arms. I guess it is another thing to look out for as Bryant makes his way through the contract.
