Through their first 50 games of the 2023 season, the Kansas City Royals are 15-35, the second-fewest wins in MLB (the Oakland A’s are 10-40). The Royals also have the most games where they were scoreless with eight.

The Kansas City Royals are no stranger to games where they do not score a run. Last season, the Royals were one of three MLB teams that were shut out in three straight games (also the Cardinals and Marlins), and back in 2017 they were only the 14th team in MLB history to be shutout in four straight games, tying a record.

Through games of May 23, there have been 105 games this season where a team has been shut out … that’s about 14% of the games played. Four teams (Arizona, Chicago Cubs, L.A. Angels and Toronto) have not been shut out so far in 2023.
