Take a look at the batting average leaders through games of June 13, and you will see that there are 11 MLB players who are currently hitting .300 or above… seven in the National League and four in the American League. Unfortunately, none of those 11 plays for the Oakland A’s.
The last time the A’s had a player hit .300 in a season was in 2013; a decade without a .300 hitter. Right now, designated hitter Brent Rooker is hitting .265, the highest average for an Oakland player.
The A’s have the longest drought for a player hitting .300. The Detroit Tigers are second with no .300 hitter since 2016 and the Miami Marlins with no .300 hitter since 2017.

Of the nine teams that have not had a .300 hitter since 2020, three have players among the 11 who are currently hitting .300 or above. In Miami, where they have not had a .300 hitter since 2017, Luis Arraez leads the majors with a .382 average. Tampa Bay, without a .300 hitter since 2018, has first baseman Yandy Diaz at .302; and Baltimore, where they have not had a .300 hitter since 2019, has outfielder Austin Hays hitting .303.
Over the last 10 seasons (2013-22), the Boston Red Sox have had the most .300 hitters with 15. They are followed by Colorado, Houston and Washington with 13 each.
