MLB: Cincinnati Reds soaring in NL Central

The Cincinnati Reds have gone 11-7 so far in June and are in the hunt for the division that nobody wants to take control of. They are currently on an eight-game winning streak after rallying from a 5-2 deficit Sunday to complete a sweep of the Houston Astros with a 9-7, 10-inning win.

Jonathan India (four home runs) and Tyler Stephenson (three home runs and a .276 batting average) have led the way offensively, while Andrew Abbott was nearly unhittable in June. He is 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 17.2 innings with 10 hits allowed and 12 strikeouts.

The more remarkable thing about the Reds’ run has been their offense and pitching ranks in the middle of the pack for the month. They return home this week for three with the struggling Colorado Rockies, then host the Braves before a trip to Baltimore to play the Orioles. The NL Central is a very winnable division for each team the Reds feel like a team that if they continue this run, can be a team that could steal it later in the season. Why not?
