According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, the Los Angeles Angels will listen to trade offers for two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani as the MLB trade deadline approaches.

MLB rumors: Shohei Ohtani trade offers will be considered by Los Angeles Angels

In a post on Threads by Morosi, he states that, “sources tell me the Angels front office will consider incoming trade inquiries for Shohei Ohtani. The club is not ruling out the possibility of a deadline deal, even though the standard to move Ohtani is extraordinarily high.”

After Mike Trout suffered an injury to his hamate bone that will keep him out of action for the near future, it’s been downhill for the Angels, who start Friday’s action with a 45-46 record as Ohtani takes the mound in Anaheim against the defending World Series champion Houston Astros. The Angels have lost six of their seven games since the calendar turned to July, prompting questions about whether Ohtani would really be kept by Angels owner Arte Moreno with the possibility of the 29-year-old phenom leaving in free agency lurking.

Ohtani made it very clear how he felt about losing during media availability prior to the MLB All-Star Game in Seattle, telling reporters through his interpreter that “It sucks to lose. He wants to win, so it gets stronger every year.”

Could Ohtani’s desire for winning set him on a course to leave Anaheim even before he becomes a free agent? While Ohtani made it clear that he doesn’t like to lose, the Angels have made it clear that they aren’t going to give Ohtani away without a massive return. Teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, New York Mets and New York Yankees have been tied to Ohtani in the past. The Dodgers, Padres, and Yankees are all in a chase for the postseason. Could a trade be made by one of those teams, with Ohtani then signing an extension to stay?

Be prepared for plenty of rumors about Ohtani in the days leading up to the MLB trade deadline, especially with this news dropping.
