It’s August 1 and the MLB trade deadline is upon us! Let’s take a look at some of the latest MLB rumors, including notes on the Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers.

MLB rumors: Seattle Mariners outfielder on the move?

According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, there is growing interest in Seattle outfielder Teoscar Hernandez. The 30-year-old Hernandez was acquired by the Mariners in an offseason trade with the Toronto Blue Jays and has slashed just .238/.288/.408 in 441 plate appearances this season. His 141 strikeouts lead all MLB batters.

Still, Morosi says it could be a battle between multiple teams for the services of Hernandez as the MLB trade deadline draws near.

While the Phillies and Giants could potentially use Hernandez, a trade back to Toronto would be fascinating. In six seasons with the Blue Jays, Hernandez has a combined slash line of .263/.320/.503, so he has performed better in a Toronto uniform than a Mariners one.

Will it come down to a bidding war for Hernandez? It’s something to watch as the 6 p.m. Eastern trade deadline approaches.

MLB rumors: Are Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers lining up to be trade partners?

With the Orioles still reportedly looking to add pitching, don’t look past a potential match with the Detroit Tigers at the MLB trade deadline, with Michael Lorenzen being linked to the Tigers by Morosi.

When it comes to Lorenzen’s pitching partner in Eduardo Rodriguez, both the Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays have been linked to the 30-year-old southpaw. However, with Rodriguez still under a five-year, $77 million deal that runs out before the 2027 season, it will be interesting to see what kind of price a team will pay to bring him on board with that much control remaining in his contract.
