As the 2023 MLB season begins to glide towards the finish line, the last big turn before the finish line is the September call ups. Who could the Philadelphia Phillies end up calling up?

With the question marks around Rhys Hoskins, a first baseman could be the option with the rotation in the outfield already pretty much set. However, two arms for the bullpen could be just what the doctor ordered for some of the relievers who clearly could use some rest.

Who could the Philadelphia Phillies call up in the field?

The Philadelphia Phillies have plenty of options from their Triple-A affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. Here are a couple I feel could make an impact with this club.

Weston Wilson

We have already seen what Weston Wilson can bring. Wilson is currently slashing .253/.361/.504 this season with the Iron Pigs in 109 games. While Wilson played the outfield with the Phillies, he has been playing shortstop for the Iron Pigs.

In his MLB debut, Wilson smashed a home run and showed that he could be a call up for this team. Wilson has hit 26 home runs with 70 RBI. Wilson also has 127 strikeouts. Wilson is right-handed as well, which could add some spice to the lineup for Rob Thomson.

Simon Muzziotti

Simon Muzziotti is a 24-year-old left field prospect for the Phillies. Muzziotti is the Phillies number 8 prospect, and rightfully so. While the Phillies outfield is already packed, adding Muzziotti would be a chance to see what he can do with the big club.

This season, Muzziotti is slashing .320/.380/.438 in 108 games for the Iron Pigs. While Muzziotti hasn’t exactly been a power bat, having a player who can come off the bench and hit for contact. The way he has been hitting has earned him at least a look.

Darick Hall

This could be an obvious call-up. After Hoskins went down in spring training, it seemed like the Phillies were going to give Hall the chance to win that starting job at first base. Of course, we know how that turned out with Hall going down with a broken thumb.

When Hall came back to the Phillies, he just wasn’t the same player. In 54 games with the Iron Pigs, Hall is slashing .308/.388/.577. In those 54 games, Hall has 15 home runs. Obviously, bringing up Hall could depend on where Hoskins is with his rehab.

Having the ability to give Bryce Harper some days off at first and allowing Bohm to stay at third would be a nice option for Thomson moving forward when trying to give players rest moving into the postseason.

Kody Clemens

Kody Clemens was a nice surprise early on in the season for the Phillies after Hall and Hoskins went down with injury. Kody, son of MLB legend Roger Clemens, was picked up by the Phillies after Detroit traded him alongside Gregory Soto. While Clemens was playing better than when he was in Detroit, he just wasn’t able to outplay Sosa.

Playing in Triple-A, Clemens has 46 games under his belt this season and is currently slashing .256/.382/.524. Clemens has also hit 12 home runs and recorded 34 RBI. Clemens could be used anywhere in the infield. Clemens could have a shot to win a spot over Castro if he performs.
