Phillies fans rejoice as Philadelphia set to make 16th playoff appearance since 1883
In the past 20 years, the Philadelphia fanbase has been blessed to see some of the most successful seasons in franchise history across the board for all sports, including the Philadelphia Phillies. While Philadelphia may not be as spoiled as Boston, you better believe that they will enjoy the success just as much.
In the past year, Philadelphia saw the Phillies go to the World Series, the Eagles go to the Super Bowl and the Union go to the MLS Cup. While the outcomes were not in Philadelphia’s favor and made history as the first city to lose three major titles in a matter of four months, Philly fans have enjoyed every second of this amazing ride.
Philadelphia Phillies fans ready for return to postseason
I usually don’t like to put my own feelings into account and stay as objective as possible. However, this Phillies team has brought so much joy to not only me, but the entire city of Philadelphia. Scrolling through both my X and Facebook feeds, all I see “RED OCTOBER” or “THE PHILLIES ARE GOING BACK!”
Where other fan bases call Philly fans all sorts of names, the truth is that the fans in Philly have earned the right to be this excited. Through failure, heartbreak and down seasons, the passion of the fans has never subsided. The fans have been waiting a long time for success like this again.
While I am 28, the fans who are 50 and above lived through some of the hardest times of a being a fan of this franchise. While some fans finally got to see this team win a championship in 1980 or 2008, it wasn’t without its challenges. It took 92 years to get that first championship and another 28 years to get the second.
If there is any city of fans who deserves to celebrate their team’s success and be excited about the direction of their team, it is the Phillies. This might be one of the best constructed teams I have seen in my lifetime. This team is built for the playoffs and the resiliency that they have shown all season will be the key to getting them over the hump.
Next time you see a Phillies fan excited and celebrating, don’t try to rain on their parade. Instead, congratulate him or her and enjoy the moment as well.
