It's Opening Day! Baseball fans around the world rejoice!

Well, unless you're a baseball fan who planned on watching your team's game on MLB TV.

Users of the MLB TV app are having numerous issues on the platform, including the inability to stream games while getting a "Network Error, please try again later" message.

The issues began around 4pm EST, or right around first pitch for most of the day's games. Naturally, fans took to social media to express their frustrations with the league's continued inability to make the game accessible.

MLB TV down on Opening Day garners widespread fan reactions

It has long been an issue for Major League Baseball, but the sport has proven time and time again that is is no rush to solve the accessibility issue surrounding its game broadcasts. Regional blackouts, absurd pricing structures, and limited options/alternatives have put the onus on fans to figure out how to watch their favorite team in a reasonable manner.

For those who have opted to use MLB TV as a reliable way to get their games, you can throw that reliability out the window. Opening Day is the game's biggest showcase outside of the playoffs and All-Star break, and yet millions of fans are struggling to watch games with their subscription.

For $150 a year — or $30 per month — fans can watch all 30 MLB teams on the MLB TV app and website.

That's not chump change (even if it's significantly cheaper than the Red Zone package the NFL offers), and having the service crash on the literal first day of the 2025 MLB season is not a good look.

As of 5pm EST, some fans have reported that the app is working again, though they caution against switching between games.

For what it's worth, the official MLB TV Twitter account has not acknowledged the outages, with this representing their only post thus far today.

We'll keep this space updated throughout the day in case the MLB makes a statement, or once the MLB TV app and service is fully restored.
