5. Miami Marlins

That’s right Jose, your squad needs to bring in some reinforcements. The Marlins have already added Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Rafael Furcal and Garrett Jones, but they still need to make a one or two more moves. Their rotation is beginning to shake into one of the top young rotations in the league with four key starters, Jose Fernandez, Nathan Eovaldi, Jacob Turner and Henderson Alvarez, under the age of 25. While this may not be a likely landing spot for unpredictable starters like Ubaldo Jimenez or Ervin Santana, the Marlins should be looking at veteran starters like A.J. Burnett or Bronson Arroyo to help mold this group of youngsters into a staff full of aces.

In addition to the youth in the rotation, the Marlins sport youth in the lineup as well. If the Marlins want to retain Giancarlo Stanton they need to give him some protection and show him that they want to win. If you were to drop an all-star caliber slugger like Nelson Cruz into a young versatile lineup it takes the Marlins from basement dwellers to postseason contenders. If all of the prospects that Miami has playing in the big leagues right now can make small jumps this team could climb from last to the playoffs. If Marcell OzunaAdeiny HechavarriaChristian Yelich and Derek Dietrich can take steps forward, this extremely young and talented team can make a run at the playoffs before Stanton’s contract expires in 2016.
