Doug Davis must enjoy him some Chicago. Weeks after being released by the Cubs, the starting pitcher was signed by the White Sox to a minor league deal.
In a move made simply to add depth at the Triple-A level, Davis was picked up by the Sox yesterday. The team needed a starter after Lucas Harrell was claimed off of waivers by the Astros. Davis will be used to eat innings and take some of the burden off of current starters Dylan Axelrod and Matt Zaleski.
Davis started the year with the Sox cross town rival, but was released after posting an ERA of 6.50 over 9 starts with the club.
His last start with the Cubs was awful which is why it was, well, his last start. Davis was shelled by the Giants for 10 earned runs on 12 hits over 4.1 innings.
The 35 year old has spent parts of 13 seasons in the majors compiling a 4.44 lifetime ERA.
