Alex Rodriguez Disputes Tabloid Allegations

A day after Star Magazine reported that Alex Rodriguez had been involved with illegal high-stakes poker games, the slugger’s publicist came out and disputed the validity of the article.

Richard Rubenstein issued a statement that the story causing quite a stir yesterday “contains numerous factual inaccuracies”.

When Rubenstein was questioned if his announcement meant that Rodriguez is denying involvement in the poker games, he simply said that he was sticking with his original statement.

Meanwhile today, one of the story’s main sources, poker pro Dan Bilzerian, denied the fact that A-Rod was at one of the games in question and called the reports “ridiculous”.

Rodriguez was tied to the illegal games yesterday in which it was reported that “cocaine was openly used”.  The report also talked of how A-Rod organized a game of his own which ended with “thugs threatening players”.

After the tabloid’s story was made public, word spread that Major League Baseball was considering suspending the three time MVP.

The league is currently in the process of scheduling a sit down with Rodriguez to review the allegations and hopefully get to the bottom of what really happened.  According to a MLB source, the two sides have yet to speak, but officials are looking to set up a meeting with Rodriguez “in the next couple of weeks”.

Rodriguez is currently rehabbing in Tampa, Florida, which would likely be the location of the meeting.
