Nelson Cruz

Fresh from a PED suspension, Cruz has remained on the market much longer than he probably would have pre-Biogenesis revelations.  The 33-year old is looking for a four or five-year deal and that could possibly be a reason he’s still without an employer for the 2014 season.  Many teams are leery of signing a player who has knowingly taken steroids and there is no guarantee he will perform up to the level he played with he was doping. Not to mention he’s a terrible defensive player. Cruz’s power numbers have been consistent since the 2009 season and teams that need offensive help might be willing to court Cruz; probably not for five years though.

Possible landing spots: Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds
