9. Chris Archer

Archer is a prime example of why records don’t matter. His 3-4 record masks his 50 strikeouts in 41.2 innings, 1.01 WHIP, .185 opponent average and 2.59 ERA.

What sets Archer out as dominating is the amounts of bats he misses. He’s fourth in MLB in strikeouts per nine innings and he’s proving to be an electrifying young pitcher who’s ready to shake the ‘young pitcher’ mantra and assume the role of an elite pitcher.

Archer’s big focus thus far into his still young career is improving his command. At the start of his career, the electric stuff was still alive and well, but it was electric all over the place and clearly out of the control of this raw, young pitching prospect.

Now that Archer has been in the Bigs for some time, he’s starting to understand the game more and he’s learned that these are professional hitters. If the ball is all over the place, you’re going to get in trouble.

However, even last year when his control wasn’t exactly reputable, he was still putting up good numbers. Now that he’s learning how to control his stuff, the MLB better watch out for what he brings to the mound.
