White Sox the “Best Fit” For Free Agent Dexter Fowler
The outfield market has seriously narrowed since Justin Upton and Yoenis Cespedes signed their multi-year deals, which opens the door for Dexter Fowler to finally find a home for the 2016 season.
According to Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com, the best fit for the free-agent outfielder is the Chicago White Sox, who missed out on both Upton and Cespedes. They would seem to be a logical home for the 30-year-old.

Chicago has money to spend and Fowler wouldn’t break the bank the way Upton or Cespedes would have. Additionally, the White Sox’s current center fielder, Adam Eaton, is terrible defensively, so Fowler’s own poor defense wouldn’t be a downgrade.
This offseason, the White Sox have made some noise, trading for Todd Frazier and Brett Lawrie, but they still look to be at least a piece away in the lineup. That piece could be Fowler.
With the Cubs last season, he hit 17 home runs and was the ideal leadoff man, working deep counts and reaching base consistently. He could fit nicely in that role with the White Sox and set the tone for the middle of the order, which now includes Frazier and Cuban slugger Jose Abreu.
Especially in an improving American League Central division, the White Sox need to do something before spring training begins if they want to be competitive in 2016. There aren’t many options better out there than Fowler.
One way or the other, Fowler is going to land somewhere very soon. Whether or not it’s in Chicago remains to be seen. If it does end up being Chicago, it would make a whole lot of sense.
