5 Bold Predictions for the Arizona Diamondbacks in Spring Training
3. 32-year-old finally reaches 20 wins
It’s not a bold prediction to state that Greinke will be dominant in 2016. But it’s not necessarily a lock, either. He’s going from a home park in Dodger Stadium that ranked 23rd in the league for runs scored per game to Chase Field, a venue that ranked eighth.

Greinke also had a very capable defense behind him in Los Angeles. Arizona’s gloves are no slouches either, though he set personal bests in a number of peripheral categories last season with the Dodgers that won’t be attainable again in 2016. Greinke’s 0.84 WHIP, 1.66 ERA, 225 ERA+, .232 BAbip and .187 BAA were all incredible feats last season.
Expecting more of the same in 2016 now that Greinke will regularly be facing a Dodgers lineup and pitching at Chase Field is unrealistic. However, for all of Greinke’s individual accomplishments so far, he has never been a 20-game winner in MLB. If he stays healthy and can cap 200-plus IP this season, with a capable offense, stout defense and relievers Tyler Clippard and Brad Ziegler working out of the bullpen behind him, this will be the year Zack Greinke gets a No. 2 in from of his win totals.
