The Orioles are in the midst of a close division race in the AL East and could use any help they can get. They currently rank first in home runs in MLB, and adding Bruce could make their already potent offense even scarier. Adding Bruce to a lineup that already includes Mark Trumbo, Chris Davis, Adam Jones and Manny Machado would be deadly.

The Orioles have almost no outfield depth at the moment. Jones and Trumbo are regular starters, but things get tricky in left field. The Orioles are platooning Hyun Soo Kim and Nolan Reimold there, with no other real additional outfielders in case either Trumbo or Jones need a day off.

Kim is having a good year, batting .329 in 155 at-bats. He’s also been a dependable outfielder, making no errors in his 45 games in left. Reimold is hitting just .248 and has a strikeout percentage of 29.2 percent. While both of these players are capable of playing there, depth is the issue.

If the Orioles add Bruce, they can make Kim and Reimold back-ups, essential in playoff situations. Not to mention, there are still two months of baseball to be played, and an injury is never impossible.

The Orioles have the pieces to trade for Bruce. The Reds would most likely ask for Jomar Reyes, the ninth best prospect in MLB. He is a 19-year-old third baseman just two to three years away from being an MLB player.
