Colorado Rockies

The Colorado Rockies have fallen off a bit of late. They are now seven games out in the division, although they do have a comfortable lead for the second wild card right now. They have a staff full of young pitchers like Jon Gray, Kyle Freeland and Jeff Hoffman, who have never gone through a pennant race before.

The Rockies went with Tom Murphy and Tony Wolters initially behind the dish to start the year, but have since brought up veteran Ryan Hanigan to help out behind the dish. If Lucroy can’t get his offense back going in Colorado, I’m not sure where else he could.

Adding Lucroy to a lineup with All-Stars Nolan Arenado, DJ LeMahieu and Charlie Blackmon along with Mark Reynolds, who’s having an excellent year at first, would lengthen that Rockie lineup even more.

Lucroy has been through pennant races before and that presence could help out the young Rockies pitching staff as they come down the stretch. Lucroy can also play first which will give the Rockies a little more flexibility.

The Rockies recently DFA’d Chad Qualls and have other arms like Carlos Estevez that could tempt the Rangers to make a move.
