Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs just dealt former backup Miguel Montero to the Toronto Blue Jays after his blow up over Jake Arrieta and his inability to slow down the Nationals running game last week. The Cubs right now have Willson Contreras behind the plate and could use a veteran to come in and help him and the veteran pitching staff out.

The Cubs need to do something to shake things up. They should not be a .500 team and two games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the National League central.

Lucroy is a former Brewer, so knowing the division could be a little more of an incentive for the Cubs to pull the trigger on this, as is the fact that he won’t be a long term commitment.

The Cubs could send someone like Justin Grimm or a young arm like Felix Pena or Pierce Johnson to help get the deal done since the Rangers are looking for bullpen help in exchange for Lucroy.

Lucroy won’t fix everything that is wrong with the Cubs, but maybe this will help a little bit as we get closer to the trade deadline.
