The St. Louis Cardinals are in major need of a power arm for 2018, with rumors of Alex Colome filling that very void.

The St. Louis Cardinals are in desperate need of some bullpen help in 2018, especially on the backend.

With talks of interest in Greg Holland and Juan Nicasio, one other big name has flown under the radar.

Alex Colome is a name that has been rumored in connection with St. Louis Cardinals trade rumors, a move that could be a massive boost to a Jekyll and Hyde bullpen in 2017.

Colome was an All-Star for the very first time in 2016, rocking a 1.91 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 37 saves.

2017 was equally as impressive, with the righty sporting a 3.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and leading all of the MLB with 47 saves.

With the Rays parting ways with both Lucas Duda and Logan Morrison, the Cardinals would be just the team to provide them with that help.

Stephen Piscotty would be the ideal candidate, with Randal Grichuk, Harrison Bader, and Jose Martinez not out of the question either.

If the St. Louis Cardinals aren’t able to land Colome, here are some other pitching names that might just fill that void as well.

Next: Joey Votto: Mr. Personality of Major League Baseball

The St. Louis Cardinals are just one more big bat and a few strong arms away from being true contenders in 2018. With the Cubs not going anywhere, the Brewers on the rise, and the Reds always lurking with likes of Joey Votto, the Birds on the Bat need to get busy this offseason.
