One of the recent Kansas City Royals rumors involves Danny Duffy potentially being on the trade block. Duffy made his thoughts about such a move abundantly clear on Twitter.
At this point, the Kansas City Royals are one of the more intriguing teams in the offseason. Although they have yet to commit to a full rebuild, speculation abounds that everyone on the roster could be had. That includes players like Danny Duffy and Salvador Perez, even though they have been locked into long term, and team friendly, contracts.
As much as players may claim to ignore the media, that is an impossibility these days. Information is virtually everywhere, and being in the spotlight only intensifies that attention. So, it is not a surprise that Duffy would have learned of these rumors. Likewise, it is not a surprise that he gave his thoughts on the matter in a rather emphatic way.

Duffy was not done with his thoughts about Kansas City and his place with the Royals. He called Kansas City a part of his upbringing, and mentioned how thankful he was to be a part of the organization. Duffy also mentioned that the rumors were causing him stress, as all he wants is to remain with the Royals and end his career in Kansas City.
This reaction certainly makes sense. At times, it seems as though the fact that these players are human gets overlooked. All too often, they are regarded as commodities to be bought and sold, a collection of statistics and numbers that represents their value.
When Duffy signed his extension, he certainly had to expect that he would be a long term part of the Royals future. Even if their impending free agents would not return, Duffy would be part of the core that the Royals would build around. As the staff ace, and a veteran who had been through the postseason wars, his experience would be invaluable to a younger Royals roster. Instead, he may not be around for that next wave.
The Kansas City Royals may be listening to offers for Danny Duffy. If Duffy has any say, he will not be going anywhere.
