J.D Martinez was an absolute star last year after he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He played 62 games and smashed 29 bombs while slugging .741. He broke out in his age 29 season like we have not seen ever before from him. He was good in years prior, but never that good. Boston Red Sox rumors have surfaced on a new location for the rising star.
Now, this leads us to a lot of speculation since he may be the most coveted bat in the free agent market. Reportedly the Boston Red Sox have offered him a five-year deal. Now, the club has not confirmed the offer nor had J.D Martinez and his side.

According to my Predator Baseball Projections, I calculate that the Red Sox reported five-year offer should be worth 151.87 million dollars. If a team was to bump that up to a seven-year offer, I project it should be worth $199.85 million. I speculate an average annual salary of $28.55 million.
Another great source of player values is Spotrac. They have J.D Martinez speculated at a seven-year $183.66 million. They do theirs by comparing what other players have received in years past at comparable ages and performance. They speculate an average annual salary of $25.94 million.
