There are MLB Rumors that J.D Martinez is looking elsewhere after the Red Sox have not been giving him what he wants.

In this slow MLB Free Agency market, there is no player feeling it worse than J.D Martinez. The most prominent offer he has received has been worth five years for $125 million from the Boston Red Sox, according to MLB rumors. The rough part for him is no one else is driving up the prices for him to get more.

The Diamondbacks are the only in the market and playing the quiet game so-to-speak. Reports have been slow to develop over whether the Diamondbacks have offered him at all. However, some are reporting that he has received at least a one year offer from them.

J.D Martinez has been a truly great player the last couple seasons. Without a doubt, he launched, and I mean launched, the Diamondbacks into the playoffs. He hit 29 home runs in only 62 games for them. Incredible.

The past couple seasons, he has proved to be a menacing force for Detroit Tigers lineup backing up Miguel Cabrera and also for half of last season Paul Goldschmidt.

The reason why I believe he has gotten the worst of this bad market incomparable players is that in a normal market he would be getting much more than what has happened. A lot of things have forced him to swim upstream in the free agent market.

Teams, as I have mentioned, have not been bidding against each other. Even with analytics that makes a difference. Plus, it does not help that the best outfielder to be moved this off-season was an MVP, Giancarlo Stanton, who was sent to a ordinarily high spending organization being the Yankees.

Blame it on whatever you want; facts are the facts. The money is not there for him.

My Predator Baseball Projections say for a five-year offer he should be worth $158.23 million. Roughly speaking, that would be worth $31.65 million AAV. However, he has only received a reported $125 million at $25 million AAV.

In the grand scheme of things, yes he is getting offered a lot of money. Let us not lose sight that over the course of baseball history and compared to the actual population of the United States, and especially the world, he is getting more than any one of us could ever imagine.

However, in the market of Major League Baseball, J.D Martinez is getting the worst of this slow market. He is only 30 years old with a slow decline starting that will escalate AFTER age 35. A five-year deal would not harm any club that signs him for a lot of money.

But hey, that is just my opinion. Pay the man. There are a lot of teams that could use the help.

Time will tell how these MLB rumors play out. It is starting to get into crunch time of the free agent market, but with so many players out there who knows what will happen. Will we even see him signed before Spring Training? Or, will it last right up until the start of the season?
