Derek Jeter is optimistic about the future of the Miami Marlins, and he should not be.

Miami Marlins CEO and former New York Yankees great, Derek Jeter, has a plan. What sort of plan? He won’t reveal his cards, but, he does have a plan. Or so he says.

Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reveals that Derek Jeter is optimistic about his team’s future, in a recent interview with Mr. Yankee.

“We have our plan, and we have to stick to our plan. It may be unpopular, but you hope over time, the people that disagree with the opinions and decisions that you make will understand.”

Fans understand pretty loud and clear, Mr. Jeter. You have no chance of winning anytime in the next two decades, after trading away the most talented, young core in all of MLB. Not only did they ship off the 2017 National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton, but got rid of the likes of All-Star Marcell Ozuna, Christian Yelich — plus, now J.T. Realmuto and the recently acquired Starlin Castro want out of Miami yesterday.

Jeter wasn’t done putting his charming spin on the matter, doing his best to give Marlins’ fans a false sense of reassurance.

“We’re building an organization. We’re not rebuilding. In my mind, rebuilding, there is a negative connotation to that. We’re building something here. Also, I think a lot of times people just automatically assume we’re not going to win.

Um, rebuilding is exactly what the Miami Marlins are doing. A better way to put it would that it’s a full out “fire sale,” in fact. Don’t insult our intelligence.

We understand that the Miami Marlins are in dire need of financial relief, but don’t try and convince the wonderful fans of Miami that you have plans of winning in the near future. It’s impossible, after getting rid of elite MLB talent, like you did.

At this point, you might as well suit up the self-glossed “Marlins Man” and give him a shot. Put him at Shortstop and let him hit third in the batting order. You would at least get fans in the stands with that “plan.”

Derek Jeter claims the Miami Marlins have a plan and for the faithful supporters to stay patient. If I were a Marlins fans, I would jump ship and swim towards clearer waters. This team is going nowhere and nowhere fast.
