Bartolo Colon has been pitching in the majors since 1997. The 44-year-old veteran still loves the game, and it seems the game still loves him. The Texas Rangers brought him in this off-season, and everything’s been going well so far. Colon’s passion and commitment indicate that he’s not planning to retire anytime soon.
The Texas Rangers called Bartolo Colon to the main roster on the 2nd to start against the Oakland A’s. In his first start, he pitched 6.0 allowing one run on seven hits, striking out four in a losing effort. Last week, he came very close to pitching a perfect game, as well as a no-hitter against Houston.
Bartolo Colon has yet to earn a win or suffer a loss despite his effective pitching. His ERA of 1.45 is impressive for an aged veteran. So far this season, he’s only allowed three runs on 17 hits, and he’s struck out 17.

Last week, the Texas Rangers placed one of their starting pitchers on the disabled list, giving Bartolo Colon an opportunity to start more games. So far Bartolo Colon has been making the most of it. In any case, he must keep it up.
Bartolo Colon is set to start on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners. He’s eager to earn his first win of the season and in order for him to do that he needs to come into the game the same way he came into his last start.
He needs to step on the mound focused and ready for anything. Of course, he’s going to need the support of the Texas Rangers batting lineup, but as long as he’s effective on his end, he’ll be okay.
Bartolo Colon is scheduled to take the mound for two more games after Saturday. This is the opportunity he was looking for when he was brought into the ball club. He’s got to make the most of it.
