After two very disappointing series, the Texas Rangers picked up a respectable series win against the Detroit Tigers. But the team is still very far from being a good team.

This is the first step to turning the season around. However, there’s still a long way to go. The Texas Rangers need to continue to win series.

The Texas Rangers are currently 15-23 and still buried last in the American League West standings. There’s still plenty of baseball left to play, but the Rangers have no time to waste and no momentum to lose.

This series saw the Rangers really play harder and better. In game one, the Rangers rallied from a 5-1 deficit to win it 7-6.

More from Texas Rangers

The Rangers were in the same situation in game two, but the Rangers fought back, but fell short.

Game three just saw the Rangers fall behind, only to immediately respond —  winning thanks to a walk-off homer by Nomar Mazara.

Perhaps the most important thing we saw from the Rangers in this series is concentration. That’s how they were able to rally from a 5-1 deficit and win the game. That’s how they won it in the bottom of the ninth in game three.

When the team is well-concentrated, they’re capable of winning a game in very spectacular fashion.

If the Rangers can stay concentrated, they’ll not only be able to continue to win, but they’ll climb up in the AL West standings and hopes will rise as far as a playoff spot is concerned.

The Texas Rangers have Friday off. On Saturday, they begin a three-game series against the Astros in Houston. If the Rangers can do the same thing they did the last time they were in Houston and win the series, they’ll not only be one step closer to a season turnaround, but they’ll even have the lead in this season’s lone star series.
