Our latest MLB Power Rankings have a few twists and turns, but the dominance of the New York Yankees is not one of them.

With the dogs days of summer approaching, things are getting ready to heat up across the MLB very soon. The New York Yankees didn’t get that memo, who are already burning up, displaying their total and utter dominance. It’s not even fair right now. So we should end our MLB Power Rankings with sporting just the Bronx Bombers then, right?

Thankfully for the other teams across MLB, it’s a marathon and not a sprint, with the New Yankees a team that either feasts or famines. But when they do feast, they do so like Kings.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Cardinals continue their helter-skelter ways, looking for an identity of their own. To be fair, injuries have snuffed out any momentum for the Redbirds, who seemed to be back on track. They needed reinforcements and needed them yesterday.

The Atlanta Braves still sit atop the National League East and boast the most potent lineup in the National League. When they play in the Bronx against the New York Yankees in July, we’ll see plenty of fireworks — and we are not talking about the Independence Day variety.

The Colorado Rockies bounced back from a slow start out of the gate and are 1.5 games behind the National League West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks. Many thought it would be a three-headed monster in that division, but the Los Angeles Dodgers seem to have bowed out already — taking a nose dive in this week’s MLB Power Rankings.

The American League West is stronger than expected, with the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics staying within striking distance of both the Los Angeles Angeles and Houston Astros.
