MLB rumors are rumbling that Bryce Harper is interested in playing for the New York Yankees in 2019 and beyond because of a comment he made to the media.
Bryce Harper is the crown jewel of the 2019 free agency season, maybe of all of MLB for that matter. It’s going to be difficult for the Washington Nationals to lock up the megastar long-term, with their only chance of doing so is by winning now in 2018.
The front-runners appear to be the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs in landing the coveted free agency prize. Bryce Harper did nothing to extinguish the rumors that he’s interested in playing for the Bronx Bombers in 2019 and beyond.
In fact, Bryce Harper threw fuel into the fire, when asked about his offseason plans, explicitly signing with the New York Yankees, in a recent interview with News Day Sports David Lennon.
“I’m a National now.”

Such few words out of the mouth of Bryce, yet they speak volumes. On the surface, it appears to be just your standard baseball talk, but the last word is quite telling. “Now.” He doesn’t deny the rumors that he’s thinking of signing with the New York Yankees and adding that “now” stirs up that hornet’s nest of rumors even more so.
With a loaded roster boasting the likes of Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge; is there a place for Bryce Harper in their current lineup? Not really, but I’m sure they’ll find room for a guy like him — they did the same thing for Stanton.
Even though starting pitching is the top priority now and heading into the 2019 offseason, if Bryce Harper wants to don the infamous Yankee pinstripes, you make it happen. He’s a once in a lifetime type of player and adding another bash-brother to the mix will make the New York Yankees virtually unstoppable.
With that potential three-headed monster, pitching would be irrelevant. Imagine if they lock up Manny Machado as well? The thought of doing so is scary and not even fair for other MLB teams. But, it’s the New York Yankees (baseball) world, and all other teams are only living in it.

Bryce Harper is not denying talks of playing for the New York Yankees and that should be cause for concern for the Washington Nationals.
