Friday AAA Standouts

Iowa had a big offensive game on Friday, and two hitters ended up having perfect days at the plate as Efren Navarro went 4-4 with 4 runs scored, 2 doubles, an RBI, and a walk while Mike Zagunis went 2-2 with 2 runs scored, an RBI, and 3 walks.

While being perfect over 5 plate appearances is impressive, Columbus’ Shane Bieber was nearly perfect over 7 full innings on the mound on Friday, shutting down Gwinnett in a 7-inning game with an error accounting for the only baserunner of the evening as Bieber tossed 7 innings, allowing no hits or walks, striking out 7 Stripers hitters.

Friday AA Standouts

Reading’s Jan Hernandez put together a Friday that filled all the statistical boxes. He went 4-4, scoring 3 runs and driving in one, hitting a triple and a home run, drawing a walk, and stealing a base.

Ariel Jurado has had a rough time over the last year regaining control on his tremendous raw stuff, but Friday was a good example of just how he can shut down a lineup when he has that control as Jurado threw a complete game shutout for Frisco, allowing 6 hits and no walks, collecting a strikeout as well.
