Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds have been growing through a rebuilding process for quite a long time. They’ve hired a new manager in David Bell. They have some excellent offensive pieces in Eugenio Suarez and Joey Votto. Their rotation as it stands right now, consists of Anthony DeSclafani, Tyler Mahle, Cody Reed and Luis Castillo. Michael Lorenzen may be in the mix as well.

That’s not going to cut it.

The Reds have some prospects in their farm system that they could give the New York Yankees in a trade for Gray.

The Reds also have Derek Johnson, who was Gray’s pitching coach in college at Vanderbilt. Combining him with a change of scenery and going to the National League may be what Gray needs to restore his value.

Plus, if Gray pitches well and the Reds aren’t in the race, they can flip him at the trade deadline to a club in contention that are looking for starting pitching (which will more than likely be every team in contention)

Maybe a swap of Scooter Gennett, who can fill in at second and shift Gleyber Torres to short while Didi Gregorius recovers from Tommy John surgery could work?
