Oakland Athletics

Hopefully Billy Beane didn’t call no tradebacks. The New York Yankees could send Gray back to the team that they acquired him from and who they beat in the AL Wild Card game in the Oakland Athletics

The A’s could use some starting pitching for next season. Sean Manaea is going to miss a good chunk of time, if not the whole season. They have a few pitchers recovering from Tommy John surgery like Jharel Cotton and top prospect AJ Puk. Andrew Triggs had throasic outlet surgery in August.  The club acquired Mike Fiers last season and is arbitration eligible.

If the A’s are going to be in playoff contention again next season, they are going to need more starting pitching. Sure, they can bullpen their way and use openers, but over the course of the season, they are going to need some starting pitching.

Gray would be someone that they too can flip at the deadline if they are out, which gives some additional value to them.

Maybe the New York Yankees ask for a reliever and a prospect from Oakland to get a deal done and free up some more cash for whatever spending they do this off-season.
