New Uniforms

In 1988, the Baltimore Orioles suffered what was then the worst losing streak in team history. The next year was the “why not?” season and they came back with a new look. Baseball is a superstitious event and that train of thought will never change. Although many would scoff at the idea of a jersey switching designs and retrofitting designs, the attitude provided allows a difference in culture.

Imagine the Orioles going back to a retro 1966 look to rid themselves of the bygone era that ended with historical losing season. Starting fresh and bringing on a new era would be great if the process came with a new uniform as well. Keep the Cartoon bird and get rid of the swoosh from the Orioles! Incorporate the past with the hope of a bright future.

Fan benefits

In this day and age, the fan experience is more than just popcorn, crackerjacks, and not caring if you ever go back. This is the age of technology, wifi, fantasy sports, and benefits.

Almost every single sporting venue has reliable charging stations, sports bars, and big screens that keeps the fans in the game. As crazy as it sounds, most fans go to the game to look at the game from other places on the field.

Aside from up to date amenities, unique discounts and benefits go a great distance. Lets just take a look at Hockey and football in the DMV. The Capitals and the Ravens have special deals for their fanbase who are either Capital One card holders or MT Bank holders to get special discounts. These discounts include jerseys, food, drinks, and other special fan benefits.

If the Orioles have or plan to implement this type of idea then fans will have a good incentive to be involved. More importantly, feel like the team welcomes their presence and feel appreciated. Thanking the fans is one thing, but actually welcoming in the fans and making them feel apart of the fun is whole different situation.

Camden Yards sells unique and authentic sports memorabilia in their ballpark. How awesome would it be if fans who were season ticket holders or possessed Bank of America cards can get special discounts for items?
