Return trust in the front office

Winning and success does not happen over night, but the ability to prepare for it does. If the Orioles wish to win back the fans, the front office will have to do their due diligence to show that a new era has arrived come this baseball season.

There is no way around this suggestion. The Orioles front office has been the source of controversy amongst fans for two decades now. There is no escaping that. However, even the most determined contrarians will have to admit that the organization is putting forth the effort.

John and Louis Angelos are working towards a rebuild. For the first time in franchise history, there will be all-aboard plan to create consistent success and not just a window of opportunity. With the hiring of Mike Elias, the Orioles have hired a general manager that is solely focused on building a cohesive ballclub that could hopefully have the lasting impact of the Houston Astros.

Time will only tell for the decisions being made right now at Camden Yards, and patience is going to have to be a virtue. Fans that are watching from afar will come back once they see that there is a clear direction amongst the plans of the front office and the results around the bases. All in all, fans will have to just trust the process.

Return to the Oriole Way

Solid pitching, effective fielding, good hitting and sound philosophy throughout the farm system is what the fans desire. As mentioned with faith in the front office, the Baltimore Orioles organization way will need to show that they’re on board with this train.

More from Call to the Pen

So far so good with the moves by the Baltimore Orioles in 2018 and the offseason of 2019 With the acquisition of a new GM and a new manager. The Orioles have a great opportunity to bring back” the Oriole way”.

There is no way around it, the fanbase is longing for the days of a an effective farm system that produced Hall of Famers, All-Stars and championship winners. This cannot go without saying that the Buck Showalter era was the early flame to spark this idea. It’s up to the new regime to keep it going.

Now will that idea be in the same look? Probably not, but there is a new chapter to build upon that.

The league has changed since their last World Series win in 1983. International player markets are where it’s at for the other 29 ball clubs and now the Orioles are heading into that direction. Although the Orioles organization are a tad bit late to the dance on this idea, they have acquired the practice and staff to jump in with both feet. Sometimes the idea is better late than never at all.
