The Yankees already have a SS, Didi Gregorious

After a shaky first year in Yankee pinstripes in 2015, Didi Gregorius has since established himself as a fan favorite in New York.

In each season since being acquired by the New York Yankees, Gregorius has improved offensively. Defensively, the numbers speak for themselves. Since joining the Yankees in 2015, Didi has committed fewer errors at short than Francisco Lindor, Xander Bogaerts, and Jean Segura to name a few.

What’s more, Didi Gregorius has a knack, like the SS before him, to come up with the big hit time and again.

Who could forget the AL Wild Card game in 2017, after the Minnesota Twins drove in three runs against Yankees ace Luis Severino in the first inning, Didi Gregorious quickly responded with a three run blast to tie the game.

Sure, Didi Gregorius underwent Tommy John surgery this offseason, and will likely miss half of the season, but does that mean that the Yankees just give up on him? No!

With the signing of Troy Tulowitzki and DJ LeMahieu, the Yankees have signaled to their fans that the infield is in good hands while Didi recovers, and Manny Machado is not a necessity.
