The Yankees already have a 3B, Miguel Andújar

I know that defensively, Miguel Andújar doesn’t spark any confidence in fans and the organization, but considering that the rookie was a year early in his development, doesn’t he deserve another look at third?

Do you simply give up on a young infielder after just one season?

Imagine the New York Yankees had just given up on Derek Jeter after he struggled mightily as a young SS, how different would the dynasty of the late 1990’s have looked without “El Capitan”?

Miguel Andújar knows that his greatest weakness is defense, and that is why the most consistent Yankee hitter in 2018 has spent a good part of the offseason working to improve on it.

Earlier this offseason, Erik Boland of Newsday reported that “before the calendar turned to December, he already had spent time at the Yankees’ minor-league complex in Tampa working on the weak part of his game.”

Don’t believe Boland? Here’s a video Miguel Andújar posted just two weeks ago working on his defense in the Dominican Republic.
