9. team. 4. For all the uproar over the Pirates lack of moves this offseason, they have gotten off to a strong start. Yes, it would be nice to see Erik Gonzalez hit his weight at least, but he has been solid defensively. Chris Archer has given the team a swagger that was sorely lacking, and his fiery disposition could help launch the Pirates into contention.. . Previous: . Pittsburgh Pirates

Previous: . Minnesota Twins. 8. team. 2. Maybe this is the year for Jose Berrios. He has teased with his potential before, and had us thinking he was taking that step to becoming an ace. This year, he is off to another hot start, with a 2.18 ERA and a 0.73 WHiP in 20.2 innings, striking out 21 batters with only four walks. That potential may finally be turning into productivity..

team. 3. The early returns for Brodie Van Wagenen’s overhaul of the Mets roster are positive. Robinson Cano has provided some pop to the lineup, and Wilson Ramos has been hot at the start of the season. Edwin Diaz has been lights out in the ninth, while Jacob deGrom looks like he did last season. The Mets may well prove to be a playoff team this year.. . Previous: . New York Mets. 7

76. Josh Hader was a phenomenon last season, and this year, he may be even better. On Sunday, he went old school, picking up the final eight outs to record a save. On the year, in his 7.2 innings, he has allowed two baserunners, struck out 13, and picked up a save in every appearance. Hader may be getting even better.. . Previous: . Milwaukee Brewers. 6. team
