MLB Player Power Rankings: 10 – 6

To begin, let’s understand how these rankings were determined. Firstly, we base our weekly rankings on a Monday through Sunday schedule. Therefore, these rankings are for the week beginning on April 22 through April 28.

Then, using advanced stats (SLG, wOBA, wRC+) that best represent a players performance, we created a rubric. As a tiebreaker, we used fWAR to determine which player is ahead of who.

Using this system, we determined that the 10th best hitter in baseball during week-4 was…

10. Javy Baez, Chicago Cubs

In 2018, Baez has established himself as the premier player in the Cubs organization. Looking to carry that mantle on throughout the 2019 season, Baez leads his team in BA and SLG.

His week-4 stats are  .760 SLG | .470 wOBA | 196 wRC+ | 0.4 fWAR

9. Elvis Adrus, Texas Rangers

This season, Andrus has been the best hitter in a relatively deep Texas Rangers lineup. He leads his team in BA and OBP and trails Joey Gallo by .010 points in OPS.

His week-4 stats are .667 SLG | .480 wOBA | 200 wRC+ | 0.5 fWAR

8. Ozzie Albies, Atlanta Braves

Albies capped off week-4 with an amazing display of power on Sunday, drilling 2 HRs at home against the Colorado Rockies. The future of the Atlanta Braves is bright with shooting stars like Albies on the roster.

His week-4 stats are .783 SLG | .490 wOBA | 207 wRC+ | 0.5 fWAR

7. Trevor Story, Colorado Rockies

Story remains one of these aberrations to enter the world of baseball in 2016. Similar to Aaron judge, Story is a strikeout machine. However, his ability to hit for power and create runs makes him one of the best hitters in baseball.

His week-4 stats are .880 SLG | .541 wOBA | 227 wRC+ | 0.6 fWAR

6. Max Kepler, Atlanta Braves

Kepler has failed to live up to the hype since breaking into MLB back in 2015. So far in 2019, however, Kepler is looking to prove the naysayers wrong. In week-4, Kepler more than doubled his HR total for the 2019 season from 3 to 7.

His week-4 stats are .955 SLG | .526 wOBA | 236 wRC+ | 0.5 fWAR
