Power-Hitting MLB Players: 12-16

Of Rhys Hoskins’ nine home runs, seven have been measured, the averages being a 101.38 mph exit velocity and a 374.57 foot carry. As good as those numbers sound, they put Hoskins at the bottom of the list of frequent sluggers in terms of distance. Only one of Hoskins’ home runs surpassed 401 feet, a 401-footer on April 22.

Minnesota’s Eddie Rosario ranks 15 with a 101.89 mph exit velocity and 386.82 foot carry. Four of Rosario’s 11 bombs have carried 400 feet or more, including a 421-footer on April 16. That one left the bat at 107.8 mph.

The Dodgers’ Joc Pederson has homered 10 times, four of them exceeding 400 feet. The average exit velocity of Pederson’s blasts has been 104.21 mph; the average 392.6 foot carry ranks 14th among the most prolific sluggers.

Mitch Moreland plays half his games at Fenway Park, but as a left handed hitter he gets little benefit from the iconic left field wall. Hs average home run exit velocity is 104.71 mph, his average carry 394.33 feet. Moreland’s longest was a 423 footer hit April 30.

Luke Voit wasn’t even projected as a full-timer in the Yankee lineup when the season started. But injuries gave Voit an opportunity, and his power gave him nine home runs through May 1. His average exit velocity is 106.67, his average carry is 397.11 feet. Voit’s longest was his first, a 428-footer March 28 that set the tone.
