Just days after the Houston Astros’ assistant GM made inappropriate comments towards reporters, he has been fired.

Brandon Taubman is out of a job as the Houston Astros announce they’ve terminated his employment.

After Game 6 of the ALCS, multiple female reports, one wearing a domestic violence awareness bracelet, heard Taubman yell towards them “Thank God we got Osuna! I’m so f—— glad we got Osuna!” after Osuna had a rocky outing. In case you didn’t know, Roberto Osuna was arrested for domestic violence in 2018.

Ahead of Game 3 of the World Series tomorrow night, the Astros released a statement in regards to Taubman being fired.

"Our initial investigation led us to believe that Brandon Taubman’s inappropriate comments were not directed toward any reporter. We were wrong.  We sincerely apologize to Stephanie Apstein, Sports Illustrated and to all individuals who witnessed this incident or were offended by the inappropriate conduct.  The Astros in no way intended to minimize the issues related to domestic violence. Our initial belief was based on witness statements about the incident.  Subsequent interviews have revealed that Taubman’s inappropriate comments were, in fact, directed toward one or more reporters. Accordingly we have terminated Brandon Taubman’s employment with the Houston Astros.  His conduct does not reflect the values of our organization and we believe this is the most appropriate course of action."

After a story came out by Sports Illustrated that these events happened, the Astros denied the story calling it a “embarrassing” and “fabricated” story in a statement that was released just hours after Sports Illustrated published the story.

Taubman himself denied that his comments were directed towards the female reports. The Astros organization was under fire for the way they initially responded to the claims.

Before he was fired, Taubman called his actions “unprofessional” and said that it does not reflect how he handles himself.

Brandon Taubman was hired as the assistant general manager in September of 2018 and spent the last six years in the Houston Astros organization.
