In this 2020 MLB season, in the NL Central, Boston deals the Cardinals a blow.

The slumping Cardinals lost for the seventh time in their last 10 games in Boston. Home runs by Kevin Pillar, Rafael Devers and Mitch Moreland did them in 6-2 Friday, sending Dakota Hudson to a 4-8 record.   On Saturday, the Red Sox whacked Kwang Kim and three relievers for 17 hits in a 10-2 victory, Devers driving in four runs.

Boston completed the sweep Sunday, beating Miles Mikolas 6-2. Mikolas was knocked out in the fifth inning trailing 5-2, the Cardinals again being badly out-it, this time 14-7.

While St. Louis skidded, the Milwaukee Brewers built mid-season momentum against the Pittsburgh Pirates. But Pittsburgh did take the series opener 5-2 Friday thanks to Derek Holland’s six innings of work.

On Saturday Keston Hiura’s three-run home run led an 11-hit Milwaukee attack that overwhelmed th4e Pirates 7-3. Adrian Houser pitched eight innings of four-hit ball Sunday and Justin Smoak drove in two runs as the Brewers won 4-2.
