MLB Win Totals 2021: Toronto Blue Jays

Over/Under 86.5 wins

Prediction: Over

The Blue Jays crept into the postseason in 2020, but they can no longer hide after signing George Springer, Marcus Semien, and Kirby Yates this offseason.

With all the hype surrounding the Jays and their explosive offense, Vegas assigned them a modest 86.5 win total. They may still end up in third place in a top-heavy division. Their standing will likely come down to their starting pitching, which ranked 18th in MLB with a 4.55 ERA last season.

Toronto will wipe the slate clean with starters Robbie Ray and Ross Stripling, both of whom they acquired at the August 31st trade deadline a season ago. Ray can be a game-changer, in the best of ways and worst of ways. His strikeout rates are off the charts year after year, but so are his walk rates. What a steal he would be for the Jays if he can rediscover his 2017 form, in which he posted a 163 ERA+ and made the NL All-Star team.

They have their true ace in Hyun Jin Ryu, and 2021 could very well be Nate Pearson‘s coming out party. Toronto also acquired left-hander Stephen Matz, who has considerable upside. Perhaps a change of scenery can steer his command in the right direction.

Compiled of proven stars and emerging stars, the Blue Jays offense will take pressure off their pitching. Charlie Montoyo will send out a surging batting order day in and day out, led by Springer and Bo Bichette. If Vladimir Guerrero Jr. can take off, the Jays might challenge the Yankees for the best offense in the American League.

Cash in on the Toronto Blue Jays. They could win over 90 games this season.
