2) Brett Gardner

It’s a bit surprising that the New York Yankees haven’t re-signed the career Yankee but seemingly, the club has moved on from Brett Gardner.

Gardner, 38, played 140 games for the Yankees in center and left field and he hit .222/.327/.362 with an OPS+ of 90 and an rWAR of 1.0. He had a 0.8 rWAR in 2020 and a 4.3 rWAR (with an OPS+ of 117) for the Yankees in 2019.

He won’t be that player again but if he’s a 1-2 WAR player for a team, he could even be an everyday player for a team.

1) Michael Conforto

By far, Michael Conforto is the best free agent on this list as he is the only remaining top 50 free agent left on the market.

Conforto, 29, is still on the market due to an injured shoulder that he suffered in January. He struggled with a hamstring injury in 2021 and his production suffered but it was still better than most players.

In 125 games, he hit .232/.344/.384 with 14 homers, 55 RBI, and an OPS+ of 101. But from 2017 through 2020, he hit .265/.369/.495 with an OPS+ of 134. His best full season came in 2019 when he hit 33 homers and had 92 RBI with a slash line of .257/.363/.494 with an OPS+ of 127 and an rWAR of 3.6.
