There were a pair of trades on Sunday centered around pitching that involved the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres trying to get better in the present, and the Oakland A’s simply trying to cut costs while planning for the future.

The Sunday trades, in case you missed them, involved the New York Mets sending right-handed reliever Miguel Castro to the New York Yankees in exchange for southpaw reliever Joely Rodríguez. Earlier in the day, the Oakland A’s continued their teardown by sending starting pitcher Sean Manaea and minor league pitcher Aaron Holiday to the San Diego Padres in exchange for two minor leaguers in infielder Euribiel Angeles and starting pitcher Adrian Martinez.

You can read more about the San Diego-Oakland deal here, and more about the New York crosstown trade here.

So how do the trades impact the four franchises and which ones get better marks for the trades than others? Let’s dive into the grades for the A’s, Padres, Yankees, and Mets.
