It would be easy to forget about Yasiel Puig. The former Los Angeles Dodgers All Star has not been in the majors since 2019 as teams have shied away from him. He did have a contract with the Braves in 2020, but that was voided after he tested positive for COVID and other teams have steered clear.

That does not mean that Puig has been sitting on his couch. He spent 2021 in the Mexican League, performing relatively way although he continued his pugnacious ways. However, his performance led to a contract in the Korean Baseball Organization as he signed with the Kiwoom Heroes.

Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig shows off arm

Puig certainly appeared to be enjoying his time in the KBO early on, especially as it came to home run celebrations. However, he showed that he is more than just those home run celebrations as he still has his impressive arm in the outfield.

That was certainly the case on that throw. Puig was still running to the glove side as he made the catch, not stopping as he uncorked the throw from right. He fired a laser to home, leading the catcher perfectly up the line and giving him time to tag the runner out as he attempted to score.

Puig has not quite been what the Heroes would have hoped for with the bat. He has a .209/.305/.322 batting line in his 131 plate appearances entering Monday, with four doubles and three homers while stealing three bases. However, there is still plenty of time for him to catch fire in the batter’s box.

If that happens, it is not unreasonable to think that Puig would get a chance to come stateside again. It is something that he certainly wants, but he needs to prove he can produce and stay out of trouble. Puig needs to make that happen.

dark. Next. Grading the Freddie Freeman signing thus far

Yasiel Puig was known for his cannon of an arm during his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has not lost anything there at all.
