1 player from each MLB team that has surprised in a good way in 2022
New York Mets: Tylor Megill
Tylor Megill was the emergency Opening Day starter for the New York Mets this year after Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer, and others were injured but he has been great for them.
In his second season in the majors, he is 4-1 thus far (the four wins leading the majors) with a 2.43 ERA in six starts. His FIP is even better (2.42) and he has a 0.90 WHIP while walking just 2.2 and striking out 9.7 batters per nine innings.
Atlanta Braves: Kyle Wright
Kyle Wright has had a handful of MLB appearances in each of the last four seasons but he is getting more of a look in the majors this year and he is proving himself.
Through Monday, he was 3-1 with a 1.74 ERA in five starts with a 2.08 FIP and a 0.968 WHIP. He also struck out 10.7 batters per nine innings compared to just 2.0 walks.
Miami Marlins: Pablo López
Pablo López was good for the Miami Marlins last year and in 2020 as well but he has stepped it up even more in 2022.
He leads the NL with four wins and he also leads the NL in ERA at 1.00. He has a league-leading 396 ERA+, a 2.17 FIP, a 0.889 WHIP, and he is averaging 2.0 walks and 8.8 strikeouts per nine innings.
Philadelphia Phillies: Alec Bohm
After a rough start to the season for Alec Bohm, he has been one of best hitters for the Philadelphia Phillies since.
Entering Tuesday, he was hitting .317/.362/,439 with an OPS+ of 134, two homers, and 14 RBI in 27 games (94 plate appearances).
Washington Nationals: Yadiel Hernández
The Washington Nationals got slightly above average offense from Yadiel Hernández last season (104 OPS+) but he has been, arguably, their best hitter in 2022.
Entering Tuesday, he was hitting .365/.392/.541 with two homers, 15 RBI, and an OPS+ of 178 in 79 plate appearances.
