It has been an intense week at the start of the season and we have seen several surprises and disappointments at the beginning. Despite having a good draft, fantasy baseball strategy is not to wait too long to make adjustments that help your fantasy team win week after week.

Some players are currently overperforming and an adjustment will come as the season goes by. However, there are options for players in the waiver wire, who, even lowering their level towards its historical average, can give your team a good result this year.

3 fantasy baseball waiver wire options to fill the outfield, infield, and rotation

  • Brice Turang, SS-MIL. Turang was a complete unknown during fantasy drafts despite hitting well in spring training. The Brewers prospect has shortstop eligibility and, in a few days, will also have it as a second baseman, a rare production position this year. Turang’s plus is his speed being a high-contribution player in stolen bases, but he has also stood out for being a high-contact hitter. With the current new rules, putting the ball in play is a plus for any player. His starting power will tend to go down, but his batting average and stolen bases will be a big contributor in fantasy at premium-eligible positions.
  • Joey Gallo, OF – MIN. Believe it or not, Gallo is a viable option this year in fantasy leagues. The outfielder has started the season hot, connecting with a hard-hit contact of more than 70 percent and an average exit velocity of 97.6 mph. The adjustment toward a drop in batting average and an increase in strikeouts will come, but the power is real. Gallo has also historically been a player with high OBP potential and the banned shift offered added value for an extreme pull hitter like him.
  • Mike Clevinger, SP-CHW. Clevinger started the year well generating enough swing and miss from opposing bats to get on the waiver wire radar. Clevinger was not a pitcher taken into account in the drafts, but his track record with Cleveland and this good start to the year make him a viable option. His next outing will be against the Pittsburgh Pirates, which makes this the perfect time to take him. Take advantage of this level and performance while it is sustainable.
