With the MLB trade deadline only one day away, let’s take a look at some of the latest MLB rumors floating out there, including notes on the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks.

MLB rumors: Cincinnati Reds keeping Jonathan India?

After plenty of whispers that the Reds might move the former National League Rookie of the Year before the MLB trade deadline, MLB insider Bob Nightengale writes in his column, “The Cincinnati Reds insist they will not trade second baseman Jonathan India for prospects, or any two-month rental. If he’s traded, it won’t be until the winter.”

That’s good news for a Reds team that enters Monday on top of the National League Central and 7-3 over their last 10 games. While Cincinnati may have a glut of infielders and India may become expendable eventually, moving him at the deadline could have potentially impacted the Reds clubhouse and chemistry.

St. Louis Cardinals rumors: More trades coming?

After a busy Sunday where the Cardinals sent reliever Jordan Hicks to the Toronto Blue Jays and starter Jordan Montgomery and reliever Chris Stratton to the Texas Rangers, St. Louis president of baseball operations John Mozeliak told reporters, “Do I anticipate more (trades) to come? Probably.”

Among the names that could be moved include starting pitcher Jack Flaherty and outfielder Dylan Carlson, among others. You can see a list of Cardinals who could be on the move here.

MLB rumors: Arizona Diamondbacks looking for a closer?

Nightengale also mentions that the Diamondbacks, who are just 2-8 in their last 10 games and are now behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants in the chase for the NL West lead, “are desperately looking for a closer.” However, Arizona’s options became more limited over the weekend when the San Diego Padres swept the Texas Rangers at Petco Park, reportedly putting the Padres into the buyer category, which will keep All-Star closer Josh Hader in brown and gold.
