O’s Roberts Not Returning Until After AS Break

It was more of the same today for Brian Roberts and O’s fans.

The Orioles’ second baseman was reevaluated by a concussion specialist today and told once again to return in two weeks.  He will have to wait until at least then to increase his participation in baseball related activities.

Roberts has been out since the middle of May after diving into first base.  The 33 year old experienced headaches and it was later determined he had sustained a concussion.

Baltimore originally hoped Roberts could be sent to the newly created 7 day disabled list for concussions.  When that didn’t happen, the club next set their sights on a pre-All-Star game return.  Today’s meeting now rules out any chance that Roberts will be back before the break.

Robert Andino has made a majority of the starts at second for the Orioles in Roberts’ absence.

The O’s also needed someone to fill in at the top of the order, and have recently tabbed shortstop J.J. Hardy their leadoff hitter.  Hardy has excelled for the Birds this season, turning in a line of .298/.365/.516 on the year while only committing a single error at short.
