Early yesterday morning, Dee Gordon was suspended for 80 games due to a positive PED test. It appears as though the MLB may be about to suspend several more players.

Last week, Chris Colabello was suspended due to a positive PED test that occurred in Spring Training. His appeal had been denied, and his suspension became public. Yesterday, at 1:30 in the morning, Dee Gordon was hit with his own PED suspension, having dropped his appeal. Again, his suspension was due to a positive test during the Spring.

According to Peter Gammons, those two players may not be the only ones to be suspended in the near future. Other players are reportedly on a list facing discipline, with additional names and suspensions potentially being announced during the upcoming week.

In a way, it makes sense that more names would be coming out. With the appeals process in Major League Baseball, it can take some time before those appeals are heard. Likewise, as it makes sense for testing to occur when players report to Spring Training, those appeals may have been heard only recently.

It is also interesting to think about what other bombshells could drop over the next week. Both Colabello and Gordon had been struggling at the plate in the early going, perhaps due to their impending suspensions. While a slow start may not mean anything other than just some early season struggles, it will be interesting to see how many of those other players that may be named are struggling thus far.

Chris Colabello and Dee Gordon may just be the beginning. If Gammons is correct, there will be other suspensions coming down from the MLB in the next few days.
