New York Mets: Do Teammates Respect Matt Harvey?
New York Mets starter Matt Harvey has added to the chaos that has surrounded the organization for the past few weeks. After his recent antics, his reputation might have taken a big hit.
After he was handed a three day suspension, Matt Harvey’s 2017 season took another turn for the worse.
Certain teammates, like Jose Reyes, took offense to Harvey’s antics. After not showing up to the park for a matchup against the Miami Marlins, Reyes spoke out.
“We’re disappointed. We have to understand, we’re employees. You have to come to your job every day, we count on him. Everybody knows here what the rules are. When you miss that, that’s not acceptable,” Reyes said.
Things have gotten so strained between the club and Harvey that manager Terry Collins isn’t sure what to make of it.
Harvey’s next start is scheduled to take place this Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported that the Mets will encourage Harvey to speak to his teammates regarding his latest missteps.

With a Mets organization in total dysfunction, Harvey’s latest problems are not what the team needed. Not after getting a rough start to the year, or Noah Syndergaard‘s arm fiasco.
Surely, his teammates must know that this behavior is unacceptable.
Going 7-3 in their last 10 games surely helped take some of the focus away from Harvey’s troubles, even though the team sent people to check on him at home.
Whatever the case is, Harvey hasn’t done much to help his cause.
The former ace has looked like a shell of his former self so far through the season, and the recent incidents have only created more reason to believe that he may not be a Met much longer.

It’s been quite the fall from grace for the former star. He’ll have his work cut out for him as he attempts to dig himself out of the massive hole he’s made for himself.
